Everything you need to know about non-alcoholic aperitifs
In France, the aperitif is a special moment that is an integral part of our days. A transition between day and evening, which allows for sharing, relaxation, and laughter. And for a long time, this ritual was inevitably associated with alcohol: a glass of wine, a spritz, a pastis… For those who didn't drink, the options were often limited to syrup, champagne, or an overly sweet soda…
But things have changed.
Today, non-alcoholic aperitifs are taking a new place at the table and in our lives. They are no longer a fallback solution, but a truly enjoyable, responsible and refined choice .
A new way of drinking and thinking
The beverage industry has undergone a real transformation in recent years. In France, Europe, and the United States, a fundamental trend is emerging: a desire to consume less alcohol, not out of necessity, but out of a desire to feel better, have more energy, and keep a clear head—all while continuing to enjoy and celebrate.
The non-alcoholic aperitif then becomes a playground in its own right.
What is a non-alcoholic aperitif today?
Far from being just fruit juice, today's offering is rich and varied. There are several very different approaches:
1. De-alcoholized drinks
An alcoholic beverage (wine, beer, cider, etc.) is taken and the alcohol is extracted through evaporation or gentle distillation. This preserves some of the original aromas, but the result often lacks complexity. To compensate, sugar is often added.
2. Botanical infusions and sodas
These are light drinks made from plants, spices, or citrus fruits. The result is fresh and natural, but often a little too simple to compete with the best alcoholic beverages and create a true aperitif experience.
3. Non-alcoholic spirits
Some brands imitate traditional spirits (gin, rum, vermouth) using artificial flavors or plant extracts and distillates. These products are designed to replicate the taste of spirits, often at the expense of ingredients (preservatives, etc.).
4. Original creations
Some brands, including Jardins , are choosing a different path: inventing alcohol-free aperitifs with their own distinct taste. The goal isn't to copy the taste of alcohol, but to offer a unique experience: aromatic, structured, and elegant, made from noble, natural ingredients.
The Gardens Approach
At Jardins , we didn't want to reproduce a gin without alcohol.
We didn't want to dealcoholize wine.
We wanted to create a completely new drink.
Our ambition: to offer a complete tasting experience , without alcohol, but with complexity, depth, and length in the mouth. Something to truly savor.
An artisanal production in Touraine
All our aperitifs are made in France , in the heart of Touraine , in partnership with an artisanal workshop specializing in organic juices.
We do not use any fermentation or dealcoholization . Our recipes are based on herbal infusions, grape must, fruits, citrus fruits, and spices. A work of composition and balance.
Organic, low sugar, French
All our ingredients are certified organic , and come from French producers as much as possible.
No preservatives, no added refined sugar, only sugars naturally present in fruits or plants.
To add texture, plant fibers are sometimes used. This gives roundness without weighing it down or masking the flavors.
A complete tasting experience
Each Jardins drink is designed as a sensory journey .
We work with chefs, sommeliers and herbalists to build a balanced palette, with:
- a frank aromatic attack ,
- a structure in the mouth ,
- a nice length ,
- a balance between bitterness, freshness and sweetness .

Another way to toast
For us, non-alcoholic aperitifs are about pleasure, research, and attention. A desire to share, without compromise, with taste and with heart.
At Jardins , we're imagining a new aperitif culture: more inclusive, more refined, and freer too. Because drinking well doesn't necessarily mean drinking alcohol. And celebrating can be done differently, just as intensely.
